Description

Rio de la Plata 8 Reales 1826 RA-P AU58 NGC, La Rioja mint, KM20, CJ-26.2. 7 laurel pairs, coin rotation variety. The first year of the La Rioja sunface 8 Reales, 11 years after the original Rio de la Plata sunface issue that was minted in Potosi. Lovely almond toning blankets the planchet that displays only minute wear to the high points, leaving this specimen at the threshold of a Mint State designation. While the more common of the two laurel varieties, any example, especially so fine, is an opportunity to celebrate.
