Rio de la Plata 8 Reales 1831/0 RA-P AU58 NGC, La Rioja
mint, KM20 (Rare), CJ-32.1. An utterly elusive Argentinian rarity
and one we've only handled once previously. While precluded from a
coveted Mint State assignment by the presence of grade-defining
friction, this does little to diminish the importance and eye
appeal of the piece at hand. A lustrous undercurrent illuminates
the planchet that is partly held in check by adjustment marks
across the reverse, though the fully formed sunface motif is
spared. Expected to be among this auction's top "Sun Face" lots
with Krause supposing less than 5 known and supported by a paucity
