Description

Charles III 8 Reales 1779 So-DA AU55 NGC, Santiago mint, KM31, Elizondo-26, Cal-1213. A commendable selection from one of the most difficult series of Spanish colonial 8 Reales, where examples of any date are hotly contested regardless of preservation. Evidence of advanced dies are found in the slightly knobby reverse while minor planchet imperfections can be found on the obverse. Despite these picayunes, the noted circulation wear has generally been limited to the highest points, leaving a mostly uniform patination throughout and ample remnant detail. One of just five certified by NGC and desirable as such.
