Description

Charles IV 8 Reales 1790 So-DA AU53 NGC, Santiago mint, KM39, Elizondo-40, Cal-1017. A difficult to piece to acquire in higher preservations and without noted qualifiers. This specimen is particularly attractive, exhibiting an impressive preservation for the type, featuring the portrait of Charles III amidst a pleasing patination. With a flick of the wrist, the flan reveals delightful mint bloom with subtle hints of amber. The second-finest of just five straight-graded examples at NGC and rare as such.
