Ferdinand VII 8 Reales 1817 So-FJ XF40 NGC, Santiago mint, KM80, Elizondo-76 (Very Rare), Cal-1410. The Royalist government gave way in 1817, so they did not have the time to mint this date in high numbers, which explains why this is a true rara avis of Chilean numismatics. In fact, one reliable estimate places the number of known surviving pieces at under 10, six of which have been certified by NGC and only a small handful of any making sporadic auction appearances in recent decades. We sold the NGC XF Details (Surface Hairlines) Tarapaca Collection example in 2011 which realized impressive sums, so this quite lovely and original specimen should bring a considerable amount more.Ex.
