Colombia: Ferdinand VI 8 Reales 1759 NR-JV VF35 NGC,...
Description
Famed Pillar 8 Reales of Nuevo Reino
Ferdinand VI 8 Reales 1759 NR-JV VF35 NGC, Nuevo Reino mint,
KM33 (Rare), Elizondo-1 (Extremely Rare), Cal-539, Yonaka-B8.59,
Restrepo-10.1. The singular 8 Reales Ferdinand VI emission from
this mint, widely considered a trophy coin in the Pillar Dollar
series by the most devoted specialists as well as in the classic
reference works of Restrepo and Yonaka. The absence of planchet
defects or other significant detractors sets this specimen apart
from some of the others that have appeared on the market, and while
not as fine as those brought to auction in recent years, remains as
original as they come. One of just a small handful extant, with
estimates at around 15 survivors, making this a top-tier target for
the type collector. From the Grundy Collection of Latin American and Spanish Coins
