Mexico: Chihuahua. Ferdinand VII 8 Reales 1820 CA-RP VF30 NGC,...
Description
Chihuahua. Ferdinand VII 8 Reales 1820 CA-RP VF30 NGC, Chihuahua mint, KM111.1, Cal-1173. Struck over a previous cast Royalist 8 Reales of Ferdinand VII that was stamped with a T"," designating receipt by the Royal Treasurer and a pomegranate between crowned pillars of Hercules representing the comptroller. The rather inviting surfaces play host to layers of history during these critical years of Mexico's formation. Only a single specimen grades higher for this semi-key date in the Chihuahua series, a VF35 we sold from the Maurice Storck Collection in 2020, there with seemingly less remnant detail that the current offering.Ex. Privately purchased from Paul Karon; McCormick Collection
