Description

Chihuahua. Ferdinand VII 8 Reales 1822 Ca-RP XF45 NGC, Chihuahua mint, KM111.1, Cal-1175. Struck over a previous cast Royalist 8 Reales of Ferdinand VII that was stamped with a T designating receipt by the Royal Treasurer and a pomegranate between crowned pillars of Hercules representing the comptroller. The crude devices are endemic to the type given its complex minting history. The best of three examples registered at NGC and one is unlikely to find a better example of this scarce, overstruck type anytime soon.
