Description

Anne gold 5 Guineas 1706 XF45 NGC, KM521, S-3566, Bull-448. Post-Union type. QVINTO edge. A remnant from Anne's historic reign, this large format gold denomination is intensely collectible and highly sought-after within British numismatics. Though the Act of the Union was not ratified by the Scottish Parliament until 1707, Union coinage with split shields was issued in anticipation of the historic event. Handled with infrequency and often in circulated conditions, the piece at hand remains both attainable and enchanting to behold; glowing butterscotch expanses highlight a fully struck effigy of the famed monarch, with device detail demanding attention, particularly on the reverse shield designs.
