Great Britain: George III gold Sovereign 1817 MS61 NGC,...
Description
George III gold Sovereign 1817 MS61 NGC, KM674, S-3785. A brilliant, highly celebrated coin that is the host of many firsts. This satiny, luminous piece introduces the inaugural year of the modern Sovereign coinage, replacing the long-serving Guinea that had circulated since the reign of Charles II. Along with these new Sovereigns came the debut of Pistrucci's St. George and the Dragon motif on the reverse, a design that became a longstanding and beloved image in British numismatics. A historically significant piece that is in gorgeous condition, found in Mint State.Metal: Gold
