Peru: Philip V gold Cob 8 Escudos 1718 L-M MS64 NGC,...
Description
Top-Pop 8 Escudos in MS64
Philip V gold Cob 8 Escudos 1718 L-M MS64 NGC, Lima mint,
KM38.2, Fr-7, Cal-2129. 26.94gm. Sitting atop the certified
population is this tremendous near-Gem 8 Escudos, and the finest
our company has had the privilege to offer. The next closest
assignment at NGC is an MS61, one of which we had the honor to
offer in 2025, realizing $26,400 (Heritage Auction 3135, November
2025, Lot 31114). Slight doubling is evident on the obverse, though
the date, denomination, mint, and assayer remain perfectly
discernible. It is the reverse, however, that truly captures the
eye, presenting a level of visual appeal that immediately commands
attention. The marginal legend, "HISPANIA (flower) PHIL-," remains
satisfyingly legible, while the deeply engraved central design
retains an impressive degree of definition.Metal: Gold
