1787 New Jersey Copper VF35 Corroded PCI (XF40 Corroded). Serpent Head. Breen-914, Maris-54k. Maris had this to say about the Serpent Head: "Common; always on a thin small planchet and of light weight, giving ground for the suspicion that it is one of those that was coined without authority." Actually rather well defined for the grade with medium brown patina overall, the planchet was porous and shows numerous streaks and small flaws on each side. Listed on page 50 of the 2001 Guide Book.

Thanks to Heritage I realized a handsome profit for my coin submissions and intend to send most of the remainder of my collection to Heritage Auction Galleries for future auctions.
