    Description

1794 Large Cent, Rare Head of 1793 Variety

1794 1C Head of 1793 Cent MS60 Brown, Micro Porous Obverse, Retoned SEGS (AU55 Corroded). S-18b, R.4. An elusive variety in all grades, this is a not unattractive Choice AU representative with rich crimson-brown color on the obverse. The reverse is a bit more subdued with medium brown toning. Both sides are boldly detailed overall with a well centered impression. Some obverse corrosion is noted for accuracy; the reverse is relatively smooth. Since we cannot examine the edge of this coin to determine whether or not the single leaf that follows ONE HUNDRED FOR A DOLLAR points up or down, we assume that the SEGS attribution of S-18b is correct. (NGC ID# 223N, PCGS# 1362)
