    Description

1882-CC $20 Double Eagle AU55 Polished SEGS (AU50 Fields Smoothed, Polished). Winter 2-B. The 1882-CC, from a mintage of just 39,140 pieces, is not the rarest Carson City Double Eagle from the 1880s, but high grade (AU and finer) survivors are more difficult to locate than the 1883-C, 1884-CC, and 1889-CC. The obverse of this coin, and to a much lesser degree the reverse, is unnaturally bright after having been rigorously polished.
