    Description

Rare, Low Mintage 1881 Quarter Eagle

1881 quarter eagle AU 50 Mount Removed, Polished. One of the rarest and most popular of all Coronet quarter eagles, the 1881 has a very low mintage of only 640 pieces. It is infrequently encountered with most survivors in the XF-AU grade range. This piece shows the diagnostic softness on the eagle's leg as well as significant portions of prooflikeness in the fields. The hairlines from polishing are obvious, but the removal of the mount was expertly done and it is more difficult to detect. Certified for authenticity and grade on ANACS color certificate QYV015.
