    Many-Handed Manaobago Holds Karmic Wheel

KUSHAN EMPIRE. Kanishka I (ca. AD 127-152). AV dinar (21mm, 7.94 gm, 12h). Kanishka standing left holding goad and scepter, sacrificing over flaming altar to left / MANAOBAΓO, Manaobago, nimbate and wearing Bactrian-style helmet, lunar horns at shoulders, seated facing on cushioned stool, head right and with four arms: lower right on hip, upper right holding a fruit or egg, upper left holding Karmic Wheel, and lower left holding torque; tamgha to right. MK 59.3 (these dies). Extremely rare, only the second ever sold at public auction. A flawless specimen of this Kushan masterpiece. Choice Extremely Fine.

Manaobago is one of the rarest deities to appear on Kushan coins. Depicted as a four-armed deity wearing armor and sitting on a cushioned couch, he is called "son of the moon," as indicated by the lunar crescent at his shoulders. His four arms hold a variety of implements, including the Karmic Wheel, symbol of the continuous cycle of life and regeneration.
