    Septimius Severus (AD 193-211). AV aureus (21mm, 7.14 gm, 1h).  Rome, AD 202-210. SEVERVS PIVS AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Severus right / ROMA AETERNA, Roma seated left, holding Palladium in right hand and scepter in left, shield at side. RIC --, cf. 291 (laureate head). BMCRE --, cf. p. 222 note (bust right with aegis). Cohen --. Calic├│ 2352 (this coin illustrated). A very rare variant! Sharply struck on a broad, medallic flan. Trifling wear on high points, while the fields retain full luster. NGC (photo-certificate) AU 5/5 - 3/5.
