    Alexius I Comnenus (1081-1118). BI tetarteron nomisma (19mm, 3.65 gm, 6h).  Thessalonica, 1081-1087. Barred MHP (ligate) - ΘV, facing bust of the Virgin Mary, orans, wearing pallium and maphorium; medallion containing head of infant Christ at chest / + ΑΛЄΞΙΩ ΔΠΟΤ ΤΩ Κ, crowned facing bust of Alexius, wearing jeweled chlamys, holding jeweled scepter in right hand and globus cruciger in left. Sear 1906. DOC 8.5. Rare. A well struck and pleasing example. NGC (photo-certificate) AU 5/5 - 3/5.
