    Theophilus (AD 829-842), with Constantine and Michael II. AV solidus (21mm, 4.55 gm, 6h).  Constantinople, AD 831-840. + ΘЄOFI-LOS bASILЄ Θ, crowned facing bust of Theophilus, wearing chlamys pinned at right shoulder, holding patriarchal cross in right hand and and akakia in left.  / + MIXAHL S COhSTAhTIN', crowned and acing busts of Michael II (the emperor's late father) and Constantine (his deceased son), each wearing chlamys pinned at right shoulder, cross between.  Sear 1653. DOC 3e.4. A beautiful specimen, crisply struck on a broad flan and displaying an attractive subdued luster. NGC (photo-certificate) MS 5/5 - 4/5.
