LOWER DANUBE. Imitating Thasos. Ca. 2nd-1st centuries BC. AR tetradrachm (16.98 gm). Head of young Dionysus right, wreathed in ivy, leaves forming large heart shapes, nose forming continuous line from forehead / Heracles standing left, M monogram left field, image and lettering of good style. Göbl pl.46, Class II, 5. Kostial 966. Deeply struck in sound metal, and a particularly attractive reverse. NGC Choice AU 5/5 -4/5.
