LUCANIA. Metapontum. Ca. 290-280 BC. AR stater or nomos (19mm, 7.82 gm, 9h). Wreathed head of Demeter right; ΔI behind / META reading upwards, barley ear of six grains, leaf to right; above leaf, two smaller grain ears; ΦI below. Johnston Class D, 4.13 (same dies). HN Italy 1624. A surprisingly rare variety. Die break on cheek, otherwise a pleasing piece struck in good metal. NGC MS 4/5 - 4/5.Auction Info
