MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (19mm, 8.56 gm, 6h).  Early posthumous issue of Akko-Ptolemais, under Philip III Arrhidaeus, dated CY 26 (321/0 BC). Draped bust of Athena right, wearing triple-crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, bowl ornamented with griffin leaping right / AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Nike standing left, holding wreath and stylis; date below left wing: -|O above || ||| =. Price 3263a (same dies). Newell, Dated 23, pl. vii, 1. Extremely rare dated issue! Reverse striking defect and somewhat muddled legends and date (but identifiable due to die match with Price and Newell), otherwise Good Extremely Fine.
