    Rare Pre-Mithradatic Issue

MOESIA. Callatis. Ca. 150-125 BC. AV stater (18mm, 8.40 gm, 11h). NGC Choice XF 5/5 - 2/5, edge marks. Types of Lysimachus of Thrace. SNG Berry 453 and Todor Gerasimov, "Un Tresor de Monnaies Antiques du Sud de la Dobroudja," SCN 6 (1975), pp. 25-26. Very rare!

This second century BC issue should not be confused with the later, and far more abundant, issues during the Mithradatic Wars, circa 100-86 BC. Only 8-10 specimens are recorded with the NOY mint mark, including two specimens in the Dobrich Museum in Bulgaria and a piece in the ANS collection in New York.
