MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AR tetradrachm (24mm, 17.33 gm, 7h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 4/5. Late lifetime or early posthumous issue, Cyprus, Soli, ca. 325-318 BC. Head of Heracles right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck / AΛEΞANΔPOY, Zeus seated left on backless throne, left leg drawn back, feet on stool, eagle in outstretched right hand, grounded scepter in left; galley prow in left field. Price 3091 (Amathus). High reliefs with beautiful iridescent toning on obverse and peach toning on reverse.
