PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Ptolemy V Epiphanes (205/4-180 BC). AR stater or tetradrachm (27mm, 14.18 gm, 1h). NGC Choice XF★ 5/5 - 5/5. Alexandria. Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, aegis tied around neck; dotted border / ΠTOΛEMAIOY-BAΣIΛEΩΣ, eagle standing left on thunderbolt, with closed wings; dotted border. Svoronos 1231 and 1489. SNG Copenhagen 244-245 and 262-268. Note, Ptolemy V and VI both have the same type and the two types are indistinguishable from one another. Bright flash of iridescent toning on reverse.
