Judaea. Bar Kochba Revolt. 132-135 C.E. AR zuz (19 mm, 3.04 g, 1 h). Year 2 (133/4 C.E.). Paleo-Hebrew inscription "Shim" within wreath / Two trumpets; Paleo-Hebrew inscription "Year two of the freedom of Israel". Mildenberg 20 (O5/R14'); TJC 243; AJC II 26; Hendin 693. Good VF, small edge split, light deposits. Overstruck on an unidentified provincial drachm, probably of Trajan. The reverse depicts the trumpets used in religious ceremonies at the Jerusalem Temple.Auction Info
