Judaea, Hasmonean Kingdom. John Hyrcanus I. 134-104 B.C.E. AE lepton (10 mm, .84 g, 12 h). Jerusalem. Palm branch flanked by Paleo-Hebrew inscription / Lily with buds. TJC series J; Hendin 458. Choice VF, red-brown patina. Exceptional for the issue.

The lily served as a symbol of Jerusalem and was already used by John Hycanus I for the Seleukid bronze coins struck at Jerusalem under Antiochus VII.
