    Description

    Rare Ptolemaic Yehud Issue

Yehud (Ca. 261-260 BC or earlier). AR hemidrachm or triobol (13mm, 1.66 gm, 12h). Diademed head of Ptolemy I r. / U¿Uú (Yehudah) to l. of eagle, wings spread, half turned l. and standing upon thunderbolt. Samuels 35 (this coin). Hendin 1085. TJC 31a. AJC 184, 2. Extremely rare. Minor encrustation in fields, otherwise Extremely Fine.

The weight of this extremely rare silver piece would seem to make it a Ptolemaic hemidrachm or triobol, a denomination of which only a handful of specimens have survived.
