    Ptolemaic Egypt. Reign of Ptolemy VI or Ptolemy VIII, 180-116 B.C. AV mnaieion or octodrachm minted at Alexandria. Veiled head right of the deified Arsinoe II wearing stephane, lotus scepter visible over far shoulder and above top of head; behind, in left field, "K"/Radiate and filleted cornuacopiae (double cornucopiae). 27.81 g. Svoronos 1498, SNG Cop 321. MS60 ICG, immaculate matte-like surfaces.
    Arsinoe II was the sister-wife of Ptolemy II and was deified upon her death in 270 B.C. Ptolemy named many cities after her, and an extensive series of posthumous commemoratives were minted in her honor for the next 150 or so years.
