    Description

Aelia Flacilla, wife of Theodosius I (Augusta, AD 379-386/8). Æ2 or maiorina (4.85 gm). Alexandria, first officina, AD 383-388. Pearl-diademed and draped bust of Flacilla right / Flacilla standing facing, arms raised to chest; ALE B. RIC IX 17. RCV 20622. Rare! Green-earthen patina. VF.

This Alexandria-mint issue of Flacilla is evidently much rarer than the "S" (Scarce) indicated in RIC, as apparently no example has appeared at auction in more than 15 years.
