Honorius, Western Roman Empire (AD 393-423). AV solidus (22mm, 4.54 gm, 6h). NGC AU 5/5 - 3/5. Ravenna, ca. AD 395-423. D N HONORI-VS P F AVG, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Honorius right, seen from front / VICTORI-A AVGGG, emperor standing relaxed right, left foot on captive with bent knees and large bust, vexillum in right hand, Victory on globe in left; R-V across fields, COMOB• in exergue. A very curious specimen with fantastic and careful style, seemingly better than the usual official mint products. For another example of a Honorius solidus with pellet in exergue, see Roma Numismatics, E-Auction 1 (25 July 2018), lot 896 (•COMOB, Milan mint).
