    Marcian, Eastern Roman Emperor (AD 450-457). AV solidus (20mm, 4.23 gm, 6h).  Thessalonica, AD 450-457. D N MARCIA-NVS P F AVG, earl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust of Marcian facing, head slightly right, holding spear over right shoulder and shield with horseman motif on left arm / GLOR ORVI-S TERRAR, Marcian standing facing, holding vexillum emblazoned with X in right hand and cross on globe in left, ? in left field, TESOB in exergue.  RIC X, 523 (R2). Depeyrot 54/1. Rare! Possibly slightly clipped, light weakness in strike. NGC (photo-certificate) XF 3/5 - 3/5, clipped.
