    This largesse was precipitated by the revolt of Avidius Cassius in Syria in spring 175, the news of which made Commodus assume the toga virilis, distribute his father's sixth largesse in Rome, then travel to join Marcus on the Danube, prior to marching east with him against Avidius Cassius.
