Probus reflected these attributes and was able to rule for a total of six years, no easy feat at this time. Probus excelled militarily, similarly to that of Claudius Gothicus and Aurelian. he would ultimately spend most of his reign on campaign against several invading tribes in the West. His attention soon turned towards the East; however, this would be cut short when his own troops would murder him due to either a usurpation by the later emperor Carus or his enforced civil duty required by him, to his troops.
