    Theodosius I the Great (AD 379-395). AV solidus (4.45 gm). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 2/5. Uncertain military mint or Sirmium, AD 393-395. Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Theodosius right / Emperor in military dress standing right, holding vexillum emblazoned with X in left hand and Victory on globe in right, with left foot on bound captive, S - M, COMOB in exergue. RIC IX, 15a1. Depeyrot 34/5 (Theodosius II). Extremely rare! Matte surfaces suggesting salt water immersion, some minor nicks on reverse.
