HADRIANVS-AVGVSTVS, laureate head of Hadrian right, slight drapery on far shoulder / COS III, eagle standing left on thunderbolt, head reverted, between owl perched right on shield and peacock in splendor, standing left on scepter. Gnecchi 64.

    The three birds seen on the reverse represent the Capitoline Triad. Jupiter's sacred animal was the eagle, Juno the peacock and Minerva the owl.
