As an attempt to ease the tension between Marc Antony and Octavian, the latter would offer his elder sister, Octavia, to be Antony's wife as both were recently widowed. Loyal to Antony, Octavia would travel alongside him to different provinces while raising their five children, two which were born between them. As conflict worsened between Antony and Octavian over territory, Octavia would act as the mediator between the two. However, this would be for naught as Antony would establish an alliance with Cleopatra, bearing two children with her and divorcing Octavia in 33 BC. While Antony would take his life three years later during the Battle of Actium, Octavia would go on to break standards for her political power, becoming one of the first women in Rome to have her portrait displayed in public spaces.
