    Description

Mark Antony. 44 B.C. AR denarius (17 mm, 3.80 g). P. Sepullius Macer, moneyer. Veiled head of Antony right; capis behind, lituus before / Horseman riding right with two horses, whip in right hand; wreath and palm behind. Crawford 480/22; HCRI 142 (same obverse die); Sydenham 1077; RSC 74. Good VF, light porosity.
Antony issued this type -- the first coin with his portrait -- depicting his veiled and bearded head in mourning for Caesar. Concurrently, he also struck a type in Caesar's name, Crawford 480/21, with this same reverse. Interestingly there are several instances of die sharing between the two issues.

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
