Tu Duc 5 Tien ND (1848-1883) MS63 NGC, KM457.1, Schr-359, S&H-4.10.1.2. 18.89gm. Among the finest famed "five bats" issue graded by NGC. A coveted Annamese type where bats were used to symbolize the word "Phuc" (happiness), which has a similar phoneme to the sound made by the depicted animals. This richly-toned, Choice piece is extremely eye appealing. Ample mint bloom underlies the ancient patina, composed by golden-cobalt shades amidst the ash composition. Undeniably sharp, it's fair to say it will be difficult to top this pristine example, as only a two PCGS MS64s rank higher.
