    Description

GREEK SOUTHERN ITALY. Apulia and Campania. Ca. 350-300 BC. Lot of three small red-figure vessels. All feature the classic Apulian "Lady of Fashion" profile head, with floral scrolls and palmettes, Greek wave patterns and geometric motifs in intervening spaces. Lot includes: A skyphos, or two-handled wine cup, 4.25" (11 cm) tall, 6.5" (17.5 cm) across handles (the Lady here has a decidedly long face and is shown on opposite sides with two distinctive hair styles reminiscent of Trendall fig. 317/6, from Cumae); a small plate, 5.9" (15.2 cm) in diameter, and a covered lekanis 3.75" (9.5 cm) tall, with footed base and conical lid. All appear to be intact and unrestored, with varying amounts of surface wear and mineralized deposits. THREE PIECES IN LOT.

    From a Southern California collection.
