    Description

Important 1917 Assay Commission Medal, Julian AC-61

1917 Assay Commission Medal. AU58 Uncertified. Julian AC-61, R.6. Bronze, 43.9 mm., 597.2 grains. In 1917, the Assay Commission medal utilized the seal of the Treasury as its central motif, framed by an olive wreath. Around, the legend THESAVRI AMERICAE SEPTENTRIONALIS SIGILLVM is translated to "Seal of the Treasury of North America." The reverse is nearly identical to that used in 1910, except the date is revised to 1917, and George Morgan's name or initial is entirely absent. This lovely bronze medal has deep brown surfaces with satiny luster and faint traces of original mint red. Only a trace of friction appears on the upper arms of the two genii.

Had we endeavored to sell it without your support, it would have taken us at least 10 lifetimes, i.e. it would have been impossible.
