Description

South Australia. British Colony - Victoria gold "Adelaide" Pound 1852 AU55 NGC, KM2, Fr-3, Rennik-pg. 21, McDonald-pg. 41. Type II reverse with dentilated/crenellated inner border. A rare and desirable type of the wider Australian series-- one instantly recognizable by its prominently positioned obverse crown, a bold and centrally located denomination of " VALUE ONE POUND," and its elegant inner border designs, which provide a pleasing visual frame for the central elements. The offering here presents fine harvest-gold surfaces with a modicum of luster still present throughout. Some high-point rub and surface abrasions limit the grade, though this remains a worthy example for the most dedicated Australian type collectors.
