Marvelous Superb Gem 1892 Barber Dime

1892 10C MS67 PCGS. Ex: Duckor. Like their larger-denomination relatives, the Barber dimes are named for Charles Barber, who created the design. They were originally known as Liberty Head dimes, and became known as Barber dimes only well into the 20th century. This is a marvelous specimen, tied for the finest of the date certified by PCGS. The quality is extraordinary, with full design definition and strong clash marks visible in the obverse fields. Once upon a time, clash marks were considered detrimental to the quality and value of a coin, but today the opposite is true. Nearly any defect that a coin experiences during the minting process enhances its desirability and value. Lovely golden-olive and blue-green toning congregates at the border on both sides of this beauty. Pale rose and gray-brown color adds to the aesthetic appeal of this Superb Gem example.
