Description

1892 Barber Dime, MS68
Unimprovable Type Coin

1892 10C MS68 PCGS. As the first year of its type, the 1892 Barber dime was saved as a novelty by the general public, and many Uncirculated examples remain today. Those coins are typically encountered in grades through MS66. MS68 examples are extremely rare, with only one other coin certified as such by PCGS. NGC has graded none finer than MS67+. We know of no auction appearances of an MS68 example, but we suspect that the present lot will bring a record price for the issue. This sharply struck Superb Gem is splendidly toned in lemon-gold, autumn-brown, ocean-blue, and magenta shades, principally across the borders. No marks are noticeable, and the sole identifier is a curly mint-made lint mark east of the E in ONE.(Registry values: N4719)
