Elusive Toned Gem 1893-S Barber Dime
1893-S 10C MS65 PCGS. The 1893-S Barber dime is considerably more elusive in Gem condition than the mintage approaching 2.5 million pieces would lead one to believe. PCGS has certified only a dozen examples in Gem grade, with another half-dozen finer (8/08). This piece offers mottled rainbow toning on both sides, with copper-gold and mint-green predominating over the lustrous, clean surfaces.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23DS, PCGS# 4802, GSID# 4350)
