Description
1893-S/S AU 55 ANACS. FS-009, RPM-1. The Cherrypicker's Guide explains that this coin was made when, "The original S mintmark was punched into the die well to the right of center, then punched again in the correct position." The repunched mintmark is clear on this example, and the coin exhibits much of its original mint luster and minimal wear on the devices. It is covered in an uneven gray-gold patina on both sides and the strike is strong.
