    Description

    1895-O Barber Dime, MS66
    Cornerstone Date in the Series
    Merely One Coin Finer

1895-O 10C MS66 PCGS. This is, without a doubt, the key to the collectible series of Barber dimes, ranking second only to the extremely rare and virtually unobtainable 1894-S issue. The 440,000-coin mintage is the lowest in the series. In his recent Guide Book of Barber Silver Coins (2015), Bowers estimates that 1,000 to 1,200 examples survive in circulated grades, plus 15 to 18 pieces in MS65 and higher (no estimate is given for MS60 to MS64). Premium Gems are extremely rare, with two submissions at PCGS and one other at NGC. A single MS67 dime is reported at PCGS (4/17).

This example is radiantly lustrous with satiny surfaces. The obverse features mostly rich orange and russet patina, while the reverse is predominantly blue-green in tone. Both sides are fully struck, an unusual occurrence among O-mint dimes from this era, though not all that surprising for this well-made issue.(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# C4KL, PCGS# 4807)
