1895-S Barber Dime, MS65+
Unheralded Condition Rarity
1895-S 10C MS65+ PCGS. CAC. Ex: Lily Nicole Collection. The
1895-S Barber dime saw a moderate mintage of more than 1.1 million
coins, but Gem examples or finer are seldom seen. Jeff Ambio, in
his useful Collecting & Investing Strategies for Barber
Dimes (2009), ranks the issue [excluding the uncollectible
1894-S, of course] in MS65 or higher as the rarest S-mint Barber
dime and rarest of the series after the 1894-O. This lovely example
boasts rose and pale blue patina throughout both sides with some
light toning striations. There are no marks of consequence, and the
strike is decently executed if not absolute. An extremely
attractive example of this unheralded condition rarity. Population:
