Description

Challenging Near-Gem 1896-O Barber Dime

1896-O 10C MS64 PCGS. A particularly strong strike for this sought-after New Orleans issue, with bright, satiny, untoned centers and glimpses of golden color at the borders. Just a few stray blemishes on the obverse, one before Liberty's chin and another at the base of her neck keep this impressive Barber dime from Gem status. Every bit as challenging in better Mint State grades as its low mintage of 610,000 would suggest. Population: 17 in 64, 13 finer (4/09).
