    Description

Splendid Premium Gem 1897-O Barber Dime

1897-O 10C MS66 PCGS. Another of the 13 low-mintage issues, in this case with a total production of 666,000 coins. Given the elusive nature of this important, low-mintage issue, it is difficult for us to believe that there could be four finer examples of this issue certified by PCGS. Perhaps there is only one finer coin and it has been submitted four times. Sharply struck with brilliant silver color at the center of the obverse, framed by rich russet, blue, and rose toning. The reverse is essentially brilliant, with a trace of gold just inside the border. Just shy of Superb Gem status due to extremely faint hairlines on the surfaces. Population: 9 in 66, 4 finer (11/05).

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
